Questions & Answers
What is the unforgivable sin?
This question has
been asked many times. To hear many religious leaders, you would think it
was divorce, murder or speaking against Jesus. This subject is discussed
in several places.
Let’s go to Luke 12:8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess Me before
men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: 9
But he that denieth Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.11
And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates and powers,
take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer or what ye shall say:
12 For the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what ye
ought to say.
Now
let’s look at when and where this will take place. ll Thessalonians 2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there
come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of
perdition. 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that
is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the Temple of
God, shewing himself that he is God.
Now
go to Revelation. Where we find there are two church types that God was pleased
with, the other five He was not pleased with.
Revelation 2:9 Speaking to the church of Smyrna: I know thy works and
tribulation and poverty (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them
which say they are Jews and are not but are the synagogue of Satan.
Now
go to Revelation 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open
door and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength and hast kept My
word and hast not denied My name.
So
we see in these verses that this will take place when Satan is sitting in the
temple of God pretending to be God. The elect of God will be brought
before him and allow the Holy Spirit to speak through them. Most of the
world will have bought into Satan’s lies and worship him. The door that
can not be shut or opened is speaking of those people who know God’s word well
enough that no one can take it away from them.
If
we go to Matthew 24:15 we see Daniel referred to. When ye therefore shall see
the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the
holy place. (whoso readeth, let him understand:) This would better read
whoso understandeth what he readeth. Moffett correctly translated desolation as
desolator.
This gives us the more clear meaning. When we see the desolator, who is
the Devil, standing in the temple of God, pretending to be God and having the
majority of the world believe he is God, we know this is the time and place.
Then the Holy Spirit will move on God’s elect and they will speak the truth
about this fake. When you see this taking place, shortly thereafter the
two witnesses shall be killed and come back to life after three days. When this
happens Christ shall return and God’s wrath shall come upon those who have
worshiped the false Christ.
So
the answer to your question is quite simple. Only God’s elect can commit the
unforgivable sin and only at the time and place spoken of in the Bible. The sin
is denying the Holy Spirit to speak through a person, who is one of God’s elect,
when they are brought before anti-Christ acting as though he were God.
